Progress in Spoken Programming

چکیده
The dominant paradigm for programming a computer today is text entry via keyboard and mouse, but there are many common situations where this is not ideal. For example, tablets are challenging the idea that computers should include a keyboard and mouse. The virtual keyboards available on tablets are functional in terms of entering small amounts of text, but they leave much to be desired for use as a keyboard replacement. Before tablets can can become truly viable as a standalone computing platform, we need a programming environment that supports non-keyboard programming. An introduction to this research was presented at the UNM CS Student Conference in 2011 [8]. In this paper, we describe progress and lessons learned so far.

The ATIS Spoken Language Systems Pilot Corpus
Speech research has made tremendous progress in the past using the following paradigm: de ne the research problem, collect a corpus to objectively measure progress, and solve the research problem. Natural language research, on the other hand, has typically progressed without the bene t of any corpus of data with which to test research hypotheses. We describe the Air Travel Information System (A...

Coordination and harmony between different departments of a company can be an important factor in achieving competitive advantage if the company corrects alignment between strategies of different departments. This paper presents an integrated decision model based on recent advances of geometric programming technique. The demand of a product considers as a power function of factors such as produ...
متن کاملSpoken Language Understanding Software for Language Learning
In this paper we describe a preliminary, work-in-progress Spoken Language Understanding Software (SLUS) with tailored feedback options, which uses interactive spoken language interface to teach Iraqi Arabic and culture to second language learners. The SLUS analyzes input speech by the second language learner and grades for correct pronunciation in terms of supra-segmental and rudimentary segmen...
متن کاملCognitive Informatics : The Future of Spoken Language Processing ?
There is no doubt that the past 50 years have seen spectacular progress in our scientific understanding of how human beings use and process spoken language, as well as in our technical ability to mimic such behaviour in practical computer-based systems. However, despite these impressive achievements, we still have a long way to go before these two areas of knowledge and discovery converge on a ...
متن کاملA Tool for Feature-Structure Stand-Off-Annotation on Transcriptions of Spoken Discourse
This paper presents an annotation tool and format for the stand-off annotation of transcriptions of spoken discourse like they are produced in a conversion analysis or pragmatic framework. It was developed at the Collaborative Research Centre on Multilingualism in Hamburg, where many suchlike corpora from different research projects exist. It transfers findings from the field of the so-called “...
